The utmost purpose of Tae Kwon Do is to eliminate fighting by discouraging, justice, morality, wisdom and faith, thus helping to build a better and more peaceful world.

Every movement of Tae Kwon Do is scientifically designed with a specific purpose.

Constant repetition teaches patience and how to overcome any difficulty. The tremendous power generated from one's body develops the self-confidence to face any opponent, at any place, and in any situation.

Sparring teaches humility, courage, alertness, accuracy and adaptability as well as self control.

Forms teach flexibility, grace, balance, and coordination, while the fundamental exercises develop preciseness and teach method, principle and purpose.

Eventually, this training permeates every conscious and subconscious action of the student. DEFENSIVE COMBAT HAPKIDO
Here at Altamont Martial Arts Master Traina and Catherine Traina received their training under Grand Master John Pellegrini and The World Kido Federation is recognized by the Korean Government as an organization that serves as a link between the official Martial Arts governing body of Korea and the rest of the world Martial Arts community. The style employs joint locks, pressure points, throws, hand strike (attack)s, and low-lying kicks, and trains practitioners to either counter or preemptively strike an imminent attack to defend one's self. In common with many Hapkido styles, it also emphasizes small circular motion, non-resisting movements, and control of an opponent through force redirection and varied movement and practitioners seek to gain advantage through footwork, distractive striking and body positioning to employ leverage.

Anatomical Striking/Pressure Points self-defense system's core curriculum of manipulations of an attacker's body by targeting vulnerable areas, weak points, pressure points, or vital points of the body to produce significant pain or other effects.

Trapping is designed to be reactionary and reflexive. Haidong Gumdo (Way of the Sword)
Haidong Gumdo is a Korean sword art which draws from battlefield tactics and techniques to build a curriculum for mental, physical and spiritual development. Students learn forms, step drills, sitting and standing meditation, sparring as well as bamboo and straw cutting. Unlike Kendo and its Korean equivalent, Kumdo, the focus in Haidong Gumdo is not dueling but on the tactics of outdoor, pitched battles. Ultimately, Haidong Gumdo does have dueling in it, but it is much more dynamic than in Kumdo. It focuses on multiple attackers and uses a much broader range of techniques and attacks. Haidong Gumdo can be practiced by people of all ages and any physical conditions. It is perfect for those who want to study martial arts but don't want the normal kicking and punching of most. Haidong Gumdo is a much softer style martial art compared to others such as Tae Kwon Do or Karate. It focuses on mental and physical conditioning but much more mental control is developed. Students of Haidong Gumdo will learn meditation and proper breathing exercises that will relieve stress and promote a healthy body and mind. Don't let it's grace fool you though. Although the many forms in Haidong Gumdo are elegant and beautiful, they all have an underlying background of strength and ferocity. Powerful, complex and beautiful, Haidong Gumdo is a wonderful martial arts style that can be pursued throughout a person's life. Whether you're 8 and your favorite cartoon character is a sword wielding super hero or 60 and you need something to ease stress in your life you'll find that Haidong Gumdo benefits you in many ways. Haidong Gumdo is a newly introduced martial art to the United States. It was reintroduced in Korea about 20 years ago by Jeong-ho Kim, now president of the World Haidong Gumdo Federation. COST- No Contracts. 1st Student $75. 2nd,3rd $55.A Month. LOOK AT WEEKLY CLASS SCHEDULE ABOVE
